ABOUT US
Mission & Community Responsiveness

FERN’s mission and service model are responsive to identified community needs and grounded in trauma-informed, patient-centered principles.
FERN provides care regardless of a patient’s decision to participate in the judicial process, recognizing that healing and safety may emerge through medical support, informed choice, and connection to community-based crisis resources.
By maintaining operational independence, FERN is able to deploy flexible, travel-capable forensic response services to rural communities where crisis response infrastructure may be limited, yet where a prepared and coordinated plan remains essential.
Through outreach activities, professional training, and collaboration with community crisis and resource partners, FERN continues to strengthen a regional network of forensic nurses and community stakeholders committed to patient dignity, safety, and informed decision-making.
